Blue Line Bears was started in 2016 by the then 14-year-old Megan O’Grady, daughter of a police officer. Driven by the horrible events of July 7, 2016, in Dallas, TX, when 5 police officers were murdered, Megan decided she wanted to do something for the children of fallen officers. Children of law enforcement officers grow up realizing that their parents’ lives are at risk every day they go to work.
Her vision was to create a personalized, handmade keepsake for the children to help keep positive memories of their loved ones alive, as well as to show that there are caring individuals around the country that care about them, their families, and the sacrifice that their loved ones made. Children of officers killed in the line of duty are often young, sometimes too young to remember the parent who died. For those children, a bear from Blue Line Bears will provide a tangible, positive reminder that their loved ones will always be with them.
